Lola and Ryan Marquez will be joining forces for a special night of music at the Evangeline's. The two will be featuring new arrangements of Lola's original songs, unique twists on old favorites, and never before heard compositions by Ryan. It will be an intimate evening full of soul.
They will be joined by Nick Savage on drums and Paul Bass Brackens on bass.
From humble beginnings in St. Louis, Missouri, Lola has taken her original music across the country, touring with noted musicians such as Premik Russell Tubbs (Santana, Sting, James Taylor), Jeff Haynes (Joni Mitchell, Herbie Hancock) and bass virtuoso Michael Manring. She was a Top Ten Finalist in the 2015 Wildflower! Songwriting Competition in Richardson, Texas. She was chosen as “Artist of the Week” in Coming Up Magazine in May 2017.
A native of St. Louis since 2005, Ryan currently leads, writes and performs regularly with his jazz trio as well as pop-funk group Fresh Heir, The People’s Key, which performs jazz takes on popular favorites, and electronica duo The Belief Cycle. Already a successful working musician and sideman, he looks at the Music Artist-In-Residence program as an opportunity to play under his own name as a solo artist, focusing not only on his original composition but also his emerging skill as a vocalist.
